Antigone Rising to Headline Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic

Five-woman rock band to perform for second year in a row

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 3, 2007) – The third annual Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic - the only Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament to feature an all-female field of celebrities - will take place May 18 to 20 at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA. The Classic raises funds for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Initiative. Female celebrities from the worlds of movies, television, music and sports participate.

The three-day weekend event features golf rounds and clinics, receptions, dinners, and use of the resort’s spa for all participants. And, for the second year in a row, the Classic will also feature a musical performance on Saturday Evening by five-woman rock band, Antigone Rising. This year, the performance will also be open to the public, with general admission tickets available for $35 (all proceeds to GoGirlGo!) for the performance in Morongo’s new nightclub, VIBE (visit www.ladiesfirstgolf.org/tickets for more information).

Part of the new Starbucks Hear Music Record Label, Antigone Rising’s new CD will hit Starbucks locations nationwide on July 31. And, the band will be touring this summer.

According to lead guitarist Cathy Henderson, “"Antigone Rising is thrilled to again be a part of such an event. To be able to help and contribute to such a great charity, GoGirlGo, by creating more opportunities to promote the health and athleticism of young girls and women nationwide is both an honor and a necessity."

She added, “It was so fun last year and I met incredible, accomplished women. I feel so honored to again be a part of something that encourages the self-esteem and development of young girls.”

Added her sister, the band’s rhythm guitarist, Kristen Henderson, “It's such an honor to be invited back to the third annual Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic. Getting young girls motivated and more involved in male dominated areas (such as sports or music) is something our band can identify with, so when we were asked to be a part of this amazing event, we didn't give it a second thought. We hope to be invited back year after year.”

Former US Women’s National Soccer Team Captain, Julie Foudy, stated, “These ladies rock! They brought down the house last year and we are certain their performance is going to be one of the many highlights of this great weekend.” She added, “In creating a weekend that celebrates and empowers women, while raising funds for a program [GoGirlGo!] that provides girls with the tools to enhance their own lives, there is no better, more appropriate, feature entertainment for our Saturday evening than these women who rock!”
