Antigone Rising to Headline Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic

Five-woman rock band to perform at Saturday Evening Celebration

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 7, 2006) – The second annual Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic - the only Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament to feature an all-female field of celebrities - will take place April 21 to 23, 2006 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, in San Diego, CA. The event is hosted by members of the 2004 Gold Medal-winning US Women’s Soccer Team and raises funds for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Initiative. Female celebrities from the worlds of movies, television, music and sports participate.

The three-day weekend event features golf rounds and clinics, receptions, dinners, and use of the Inn’s spa for all participants. And now, this year’s event, will also feature a musical performance during the Saturday Evening Celebration Dinner by five-woman rock band, Antigone Rising.

The past twelve-months have been exciting for the New York-based band, with their debut major label CD, “From the Ground Up,” released exclusively at over 1,500 Starbucks locations nationwide; their own VH-1 special; the debut of their first music video; a photo feature in Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Year in Rock;” a staring spot in a print and television ad campaign for Seven7 Jeans; and television appearances ranging from the Today Show to the Tonight Show. The band’s year has also included opening for such talents as the Rolling Stones during their Bigger Bang Tour, the Allman Brothers, and touring with Rob Thomas. But these five women, who are blazing their own trail in the rock world, shine brightest in the headliner slot, where they will be at the Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic.

According to Antigone Rising lead guitarist Cathy Henderson, “This is an important weekend celebrating the accomplishments of women in fields ranging from sports to entertainment to business, all while benefiting young girls. We couldn’t be more honored, excited, or looking forward, to being a part of it.”

Former US Women’s National Soccer Team Captain, and one of the hosts of the Classic, Julie Foudy, stated, “These ladies rock!
